This print commemorates the first U.S. solo exhibition of work by Austrian painter Maria Lassnig. One of the 20th century's most talented female artists, Lassnig is best known for her vibrantly colorful, dramatically intense oil paintings. Initiated and organized by the Serpentine Gallery in London and curated by Julia Peyton-Jones and Hans Ulrich Obrist in association with Rebecca Morrill, the exhibition features work made during the most recent ten years of Lassnig's career, as well as seven films made between 1971 and 1992. MARIA LASSNIG remains on view in the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art through January 11, 2009.
