The Contemporary Arts Center provides teachers and families with excellent tools to integrate art into childhood education. This page is where you can find the various materials we've created that can be used at home or in the classroom, as well as information on upcoming Teacher Workshops.
Lesson Plans: CAC lesson plans are free and downloadable. We have age-adaptable, elementary and K-12 lesson plans, and as well as those specifically geared toward 1st-3rd grade, 3rd-6th grade and 5th-12th grade.
Presentations: Dynamic slideshows can be used in classrooms, at home, for after-school programs, homeschooling and more. View online or download for future use.
Reading Lists: These are created for those who want a deeper understanding of CAC exhibitions and contemporary art. The lists are compiled by CAC Curators and Education staff, Librarians, Arts Educators and other guest experts. Those compiled specifically for children are noted.
Teacher Workshops: This program invites regional teachers and education students to learn about the connections between contemporary art and traditional curriculum. Arts educators learn more about teaching contemporary art, and non-arts educators learn how art can help teach other subjects such as Social Studies, Government, Language Arts, Math and Science. Participants explore the CAC exhibitions with our Education staff, create hands-on activities and art projects, and take home lesson plans and other tools for classroom use. CEUs available.
